COVID-19 Updates
/During these uncertain times, take solace in the Institute of Neuro Innovation’s steadfast dedication to our mission. Yes, there have been changes in how we operate; but with change comes the opportunity to grow in new ways.
Let’s review the adjustments we are making here at INI:
Logistical Operations
The Institute of Neuro Innovation’s staff is currently working remotely and will continue to do so until we receive different guidelines from our local, state, and federal governments.
Research
Our first priority is the health and safety of our patients. Therefore, our prospective research is undergoing numerous changes to accommodate alternative methods for providing healthcare, like with telehealth, which allows us to stay updated on our patients’ health while they can remain at home. We are working in tandem with our sponsors and IRB to get these protocol updates reviewed and implemented as soon as possible.
During this time, we will have a stronger focus on conducting retrospective studies, writing research articles for publication, and developing protocols for new prospective studies to begin sometime in the future.
Community Outreach
We hosted our first virtual-guided meditation session on Thursday, March 26th! It was an amazing way to remain socially connected, relieving our stresses together, while still physically distancing. It is too easy to become overwhelmed with stress during these uncertain times. Taking time to focus on mental health is vital, so we want to continue to provide avenues for those at home to relieve stress. Therefore, we plan to have more free virtual meditation sessions in the near future.
During this time, we also want to broaden how we provide for our community. We are currently in discussion to determine our best course of action to assist those in need during this pandemic, whether it is the homeless, our physically isolating community, or healthcare workers.
A couple of our board members with research labs have graciously volunteered to donate excess personal protective equipment (PPE) along with their skills and supplies to 3D print required materials (updates to come)!
Staying Connected
We enjoyed our first virtual board meeting on Thursday, March 26th. This successfully productive meeting helped build our confidence that the Institute of Neuro Innovation remains strong during this time. We discussed the year to come, and although some things remain up in the air, there are many opportunities we are excited to pursue!
